About Totnes - Totnes is a market town and centre of trade for the surrounding countryside and is always fascinating to wander around. There are few English towns where the thousand year-old shape of the original borough can be seen so clearly, or where past and present are so closely interwoven. Shopping - A full range of shopping and banking facilities can be found in its narrow streets. The shops are friendly and individual, with the focus on quality and customer care. Totnes is well known throughout South Devon for its independently owned shops and you can buy everything here from a walking stick to a didgeridoo.

Things to do - The many heritage attractions of the town include the Town Mill (where the Information centre is based), The Guildhall, The Devonshire Collection of Period Costume, Totnes Image Bank and Photographic Archive and Totnes Elizabethan Museum and Study Centre. There are many other notable buildings and monuments. They are all guarded by Totnes Castle, a classic Norman motte and bailey with commanding views of the Dart Valley.
