About Newport - Standing at the gateway between England and Wales, Newport covers a geographical area of just over 73.5 square miles and is a vibrant, forward-thinking city steeped in a rich industrial heritage, dating from the nineteenth century when its important strategic location was first recognised. Shopping - In addition to the major High Street shops located in the city centre the beautiful two-storey covered Newport Market is a popular shopping venue with a wide selection of good quality stalls. Don’t forget about the Ffwrwm Arts and Craft Centre, located in High Street, Caerleon which is open all year and has a selection of smaller shops for gifts.

Things to do - Newport has two major museums: Newport Museum and the Roman Legionary Museum at Caerleon. In July each year an Arts festival is held in Caerleon and Roman Military re-enactment in the amphitheatre, the largest restored amphitheatre in Britain. The remains of the Roman baths and barracks can be seen at Caerleon.
