About Lewes - Lewes is the county town of East Sussex, and gives its name to the Local government district in which it lies. The settlement has a long history as a bridging point and as a market town, and is today an important communications hub, and tourist-orientated town. It is home to Harveys Brewery, and the Lewes Bonfire Night. Shopping - Shopping in Lewes is a pleasure, browse the antique shops of the Cliffe, visit the Farmers market on the first Saturday every month pick up some delicious local fare. Pop into Bills for a cuppa or something more substantial from the mouth watering menu. Have a pint of Harveys, the local brew, in one of the many friendly pubs in the area.
