About Lancaster - Lancaster is a small, beautiful, historic city in the North West of England. It is only a half hour drive from the Lake District and ten minutes from the coast, at Morecambe Bay. Lancaster lies on the River Lune and is Lancashire's most northerly city. Shopping - Shopping in Lancaster's traffic free centre is so easy and relaxing, with attractive shopping centres and the new market hall offering traditional fayre in comfortable modern surroundings. The 'Assembly Rooms', situated opposite, is home to stalls selling curios and collectibles and in the nearby streets and alleyways can be found a wealth of individual shops, pubs and cafes.

Things to do - The district has an excellent range of attractions sure to catch the imagination of all the family. Lancaster Castle is owned by Her Majesty the Queen, who is the 'Duke of Lancaster'. As well as being a fortification the Castle is also one of Europe’s longest serving operational prisons. Lancaster City Museum is housed in the former Town Hall. Opened in 1923 the museum has built up collections which stylishly illustrate the history and archaeology of Lancaster and the surrounding area, from the Neolithic age to the present day.
