Things to do - With it's unique character, location Hitchin makes a good base for tourists to London and the Home Counties as well as short breaks. Being north of London Hitchin is also well placed for touring up to the Midlands or East into Suffolk and Norfolk. Visit St Mary's Church a 14th century church built on the foundations of an 8th Century Saxon Church. Take a tour of "The Biggin" a wonderful 14th century house which is so typical of the period.
