About Hatfield - Hatfield today is a modern town, but still retains a village feel within Old Hatfield. Old Hatfield is also the location for the magnificent Hatfield House, built by Robert Cecil in 1611. The house is open to the public and contains a fine collection of furniture, tapestries and paintings. Shopping - The best shopping in Hatfield can be found at the Galleria Shopping Centre, now dedicated to outlet shopping, and also at the retail park between Hatfield and Welwyn Garden City. The galleria is a premier outlet centre featuring 85 designer outlets, stores, restaurants and a 9-screen Odeon cinema.
