0Cirencester information, shopping and things to do...

About Cirencester - Cirencester lies on the River Churn, a tributary of the River Thames, and is the largest town in Cotswold District. Cirencester is home of the Royal Agricultural College, the oldest agricultural college in the English-speaking world founded in 1840. Cirencester's Corinium Museum is well-known for its extensive Roman collection.
Shopping - Cirencester has a mix of shops that should cater for most people's needs. The main shopping area centres around the Market Place, Dyer Street, Cricklade Street and Castle Street. There is also a small covered shopping area called Bishops Walk. The Black Jack Street area is
fast becoming a 'must visit' area with loads of 'nooks and crannies' to

explore. And the proposed re-development of the back of the Post Office will bring further outlets to this area.
Things to do - Discover the 'Treasures of the Cotswolds' at the new Corinium Museum. Trace the story of the Cotswolds from pre-history to the 19th century. See what life was like in Corinium (Cirencester), Roman Britain's second largest town. There is something to see and do for all the family. Also worth a visit Kelmscott Manor, a grade 1 Listed Tudor farmhouse adjacent to the River Thames, was built in 1570. It was the country home of the poet and craftsman, William Morris.
