About Castleford - Castleford is a friendly lively market Town located a few miles north and east of the M62. It lies on the north bank of the River Aire close to its confluence with the Calder. A beautiful stone bridge crosses the Aire to link the town centre with the route to York and the A1. Shopping - Castleford is a Market Town which has always had a reputation for friendliness and good value. The outdoor market formerly behind Carlton Lanes Shopping Centre has now relocated onto Carlton Street and takes place on Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Castleford also has a large indoor market hall in this Shopping Mall.

Things to do and Tourist Information - Located just off the M62 motorway Xscape is a purpose built indoor activity centre. The scale of the centre is huge, it's the size of six football pitches, and is 38m high. It was winner of Best Tourism Experience 05 in the Yorkshire Tourist Board White Rose Awards and is dubbed Yorkshires 'Coolest' and most unusual attraction. There is much to do at xscape but I will focus on its main attraction the real snow ski slope. Great for those who wish to learn to ski/snowboard or those with experience who want to get in some extra practise. For days out with children see: www.kidsdaysout.co.uk/
