0Bournville information, shopping and things to do...

About Bournville - Bournville is a model village on the south side of Birmingham, England, best known for its connections with the Cadbury family and chocolate - including a dark chocolate bar branded "Bournville". It is also a ward within the council constituency of Selly Oak and home to a campus of the Birmingham Institute of Art and Design. Research by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation has claimed that it is "one of the nicest places to live in Britain"
Shopping - The Shops remain at the heart of the Bournville. Designed by Bedford Tylor and built between 1905 and 1908, they show the influence of timber-framed buildings, like Selly Manor, on the design of the village.

When the shops were first opened they contained a pharmacy, butchers, bakers, Post Office and a grocery store. Modern day versions of these are still there.
Things to do and Tourst Information - There is plenty to see in the interesting village of Bournville, as well as Selly Manor and Minworth Greaves with its beautiful Tudor garden. Selly Manor and Minworth Greaves are two of the oldest timber-framed buildings in Birmingham. Both are beautiful examples and are set in a picturesque re-created period garden.
