Things to do and Tourst Information - Bolsover castle was constructed in the 12th century by the Peverel family, which later in 1155, was attached to the property of the crown. This is a wonderful place to wander around; the audio tours and the self guided tours are very helpful. Hardwick Hall was designed by Robert Smysthon for the Dowager Countess of Shrewsbury, Elizabeth; she was popular as Bess of Hardwick. This is one of the finest examples of the Elizabethan style of architecture in Britain. For days out with children see: www.kidsdaysout.co.uk/
