About Blackburn - Blackburn is a town in Lancashire that was a key centre for the textile industry during the industrial revolution. These days Blackburn has a thriving town centre with superb shopping which includes the refurbished Blackburn shopping centre and the largest under cover market in the North West as well as an array of cafes, bars, restaurants and nightclubs to suit every pocket and palate
Shopping - Blackburn town centre is currently undergoing massive changes. One of the biggest is a £66 million extension to the Mall, the town’s main shopping centre. Work started in January 2008 and is due for completion in 2010. Blackburn has a large Asian population and many colourful spice and

food shops can be found here, particularly in the Whalley Range area of town. Plans to regenerate this area are also in the pipeline.

- Hoghton Tower - Boasts dungeons, the King's Bedchamber, Ballroom, and a magnificent Banqueting Hall with minstrel gallery and is where the 'Loin of Beef' was knighted by King James I in 1617 "I Knight thee Sir Loin" hence the name for sirloin steak. Witton Country Park covers 480 acres of attractive countryside with picnic sites, walks, nature trails, orienteering course, cycle-way and riverside walk suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs.
