About Alston - The town of Alston is located in Cumbria County within the North West England province. The town has a small population center with a 10:1 ratio of men to women. This created some national interest in the town as local men made an appeal for women to come live there! Shopping - Once boosted as being the highest market town in England, Alston has traditional cobble streets. The main shopping street in Alston is exceedingly steep and many of the shops have steps into them making access difficult.
